Waves at Ward’s Island - Saturday June 18th, 4 pm

Even though I’m paying for it now with serious dehydration, day-old sun stroke, and a splotchy sunburn, this weekend was perfect and I spent almost all of it outside.

Saturday was a great day for some Toronto Island fun, so that’s exactly what I got up to - I packed a picnic with my best friends and took the ferry out to Ward’s Island. We spent the entire afternoon laying out on the beach, drinking porch-crawler from a cooler, swimming, and making friends with various dogs and beach-goers. Huge shout out to “Ian, Vito, and John” for making a charcoal pizza oven right on the beach and bringing enough homemade dough and toppings for 40 delicious pizzas (!!), which they so generously shared with us. That made the day.

Here is a recording of the small waves crashing on Ward’s Island Beach as I went for one last dip in chilly Lake Ontario.

Also: the NXNE festival finished this weekend and I stopped by the free Devo concert at Yonge/Dundas Square for a bit before catching the late show of Midnight in Paris (new Woody Allen, I LOVED it!). So, if you’re into Devo - here’s a recording of a song I don’t know (anybody know it?).

I got up to much more this weekend, but I’ll share those sounds with you throughout the week! Stay tuned for sounds from: Little Italy, a trippy busker, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga (I stumbled upon the MMVA rehearsals on my walk home on Sunday!).

What did you do this weekend?
